Ok I know that there are some theards going around about this, but the fact of the matter is that it has never been complete stated(unless I missed it) how to properly chop a sample and keep it stereo or make it stereo whatever the case may be. The only way I see possible to do this is to chop a sample and layer the left and right chops together on one pad but when I chop the sample and layer it,it doesn't sound stereo. It sounds like a doubled up mono sample. So my question is what is the proper way to make sure that I am layering a left and right sample.

From my understanding, I thought only CHOPSHOP turns the sample into a mono file. If you trim regularly, or extract, it should stay stereo. I'm not sure, though, somone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, your right I am in chop shop.I have converted the sample into sliced samples that play on 16 pads,so now the samples are in mono.

Nope. It just chops either the left or right channel (not sure which).

You have to convert stereo to mono in a software program like bias peak or audition before you chop if you want boh channels.

chopshop is mono

regular trim is stereo/mono, whatever your sample is and it stay that way afterwards.

that's just something you have to deal with until a update in the os, no purpose in asking again and revisitng the issue.

just deal with it.

Ok guys...........I was thinking there was some kind of way to maybe chop one side of the sample then chop the other side and combine left and right chopped sections thus resulting in a stereo sample, but it doesn't work at least in my experience.Well thanks for the help. :D

Like you said Lamp maybe they will change this with a future OS update.

As I suggested already a few days ago in Getting Started...just Extract the single chops via the Edit menu after chopping, then they will stay stereo. Just takes a little more time, and you'll have to assign them to a program manually.

Your result will be exactly the same as if you had chopped a regular stereo wav in trim in the first place. What's the point? Get your head right or is there something I'm not understanding?

if you dont like it and it always is mono.. you should maybe find a wav editor and chop sample that way.. then they will always be stereo.. well unless you got a computer.. most likely you do..lol.. but you should get o a wav editor and do you choppin gthere.. im fine with mono sampling in chop shop.. its fine by me... but just try some prgms that can chop saples...

use the extract feature to extract your chops in chop shop.then they will stay stereo.... the reason why the layer dont work is because both samples aint panned hard right and hard left.......if we had simult THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE ASWELL....but the usless layering function on the 2500 wont let you pan your layers....because akai likes to cut corners

No, I wasn't kidding. Was that a serious question??? Anyway........I was just tring to understand the methods for keeping a sample stereo after chopping. That was explained four post before you posted, and your right about the mono samples, but once again that was explained eight post before you posted.Your post were just a waste of space and didn't educate me by any means :? . Sorry
