What do you think about the sound of the 2500?

Compared to the 2000XL, the 2500 doesn't sound as full to my ears. I love the new features, but I think that I just have to go with the sound as the decision maker for switching.

my opinion is that this would be a terrible choice, as the "sound" by no means justifies holding back on a 2500

maybe try a preamp? i may not have a 200 but my 2500 sounds pretty damn sweet with the rest of my gear...

The 2500 sounds better than the 2k or XL in my opinion.
Turn those d*mn Master Effects off and get the vibe of it's sampler and you should see.
The Master Effects give a false presence to your sound so you don't realize your sample may not be sounding as good as you may think or it may be losing Dynamics.
You should just do some light polishing with them if you have to use them at all.
If I leave them set to on most things will sound slightly distorted when it hits the 73.
I have owned a lot of MPC and the same input or output settings give different results on every model.
Just have to find what settings work will which each model.
I just can't see how someone could go from a 2k to the 2500 and say they miss the sound of the 2k.

Make sure you take in to consideration the monitor set-up when you compare the 2.5K and the 2Kxl. If they were hooked up to different set-ups you can't accurately compare them.

never given it a real comparison myself, but that scares me a bit.

the shit sounds very crisp. 0 complaints about the tone. just as warm as my asr. just as grime as it.

My 2500 beats dont sound as nice as ones made on the 2kxl. And thats without any compression/fx & the same signal routing. I think there is an audible difference. Its like the DA convertors on the 2kxl have a nice way of integrating different samples together, & on the 2500 they sound a bit more seperated..? Dunno why though as they're both 16bit 44.1k..?

I think my 2500 sounds equal or better than my MPC 3000.

I think my 2500 sounded better than my XL.

sorry to bust you guys bubbles,but I had the 3000, and the XL didn't even come close to the thick Pooow! warm sound (3000). Now that I've played with the 25k,it's the same as to being compared to the XL. Remember AD/DA converters has alot to do with how a machine sounds and is always being updated. Anything after the XL is built more for the digital sound.

Well, my MPC 3000 and my 2500 sit side by side and connected to my Yamaha 02R using high quality TRS cables. Monitoring both MPCs, I cannot say that one sounds better than the other.

Man you got 2 much wax in ur ears...........You don't deserve a 3000 if u can't ear the beauty of the machine's AD's!!!!
