Somebody knows when akai drop another os?

In the meantime, you can use Jahrome's OS v5, but: You have to press the F keys to trigger your samples because the pads don't work. Also all sequences will play backwards and at double speed, but you can just flip'em around and slow'em down in your DAW (if you actually own a computer ). Also it syncs to a swiss clock instead of MTC, but still you can get the job done if you know how to operate music gear like the Jahrome!

Don't hate me. I wasn't the one that purchased a $2000 drum machine for post production work that didn't have SMPTE or MTC for that matter.

How many more pages will you add to tell people how much you hate your MPC???

i think akai is holding out on us... they are gonna drop a mpc6000 which will be the likes of a 2500 with some added features form a 4000 - a forced upgrade! :p

Maybe it's time to quit bitching about the 2500 OS. Look at all these threads that have been started on the subject and we still have nothing. It will be fixed when it is. Until then, you'll just have to wait. No amount of complaining is going to change that. Everyone should have known what they were getting into before they bought their MPC. If you can't handle the wait, sell your 2500 and go buy an MV. Roland will be dropping a new MV and Akai will be dropping a new MPC this Jan. Thiers two new options for everyone that isn't happy with the machine that they blindly spent 2000.00 on.

Sorry no links. My man at a certain music retail giant gave me the scoop. Thats why Roland has discontinued this MV and the VS series. They are launching a new MV and a few smaller ones in the mold of Akai. Of course Akai has to launch a new MPC to deal with the growing threat. All I know is the new MPC will be able to read MVO files(MV8000) and is upposed to have a VGA option. It supposed to have a bit more on common with the 4K. I hear the new MV will have a color screen ala the Fantom and is supposed to give the MPC a lot of competition.

ok, so what you are saying is that it is OK for akai to half-ass an MPC OS just to keep putting out other MPC? you are saying it is NOT OK to complain about that?

that's a very american/modern consumer zombie way of thinking. i do not agree. the MPC works, but has a few flaws. There are workarounds of course. But just remind yourself that companies keep putting out shitty products because we do not complain enough about the lack of forward thinking (short-term profit thinking has a negative impact on environment and society in general)

what we should do is form a structured consumer coalition that forces the prosumer companies to respect us, and keep the quality level above average. That will not happen because the majority of consumers are well-trained zombies.

That's what they always say. In order to give akai any competition, they will have to out-do decades of classic music that has been created in the past. You simply can't. Just like the technics 1200 turntable. Sure there are better turntables out now, but we all know what is the most reliable and trusted one out there.
