Have you installed a hard disk in your MPC 2500? Poll

I for one thinking about it.

I only got my 2500 on Wednesday afternoon ..... by the time i'd gone to bed i'd installed the hard drive.

I assumed before buying the mpc that it would be an akai special hard drive. It was only once I got it home and tried searching ebay for one that I realised it was a standard laptop 2.5 drive. I had a 40gb one (will do for now) lying around so wacked it in.

Took all of 5 minutes ... including getting the screws in and out.

DONT THINK, DO IT !!!!

(p.s - its taking freaking hours and hours though to copy my samples onto it)

i got me an 80 gig HD for something like 50$ and chucked it in.


its not bad, transfering samples over usb1 sucks though. what also sucks is that the mpc can only read something like 7 or 8 letters. so if you have real long names on your samples the mpc gets confused trying to load stuff.
i might have to manually change the names of like 2000 files lol....

It should be 16 characters. Still, the file system is completely whack.

80gb.

40GB here. Even with all my samples installed on the HD I still have over 30GB left!

I had a 40 gig that I jostled in. JK. Actually mine already came with it. But like others have said, definitely get one.

Lol, now all I need is the freakin memory upgrade to drop through the letterbox and I can actually crack on proper

put 100 gig samsung 7200 rpm in day after i got it, - dyin to get a cdm 25 jsut for another simplistic install !
also awaiting my volume pot im gonna hav to change ( though its in the damn country now at least)
ill let uz know how that goes .... n get back to beat makin asap!

Yeah,...... 60gig here.....I haven't even come close to filling it up.

Keep in mind if you ever update your OS Akai recommends that you format your HD . I updated my OS twice now. The first time I formated and the second time I didn't and I'm still waiting to see if I have any problems because I didn't format this time around......so far so good though.

80gb here - used about 20gb till now because i save often and always the whole memory. not much samples on it, because i don´t use samples that much except for drum programs. if i need samples i throw in a sample cd or sample especially for the track i´m working on.
