MPC2500 OS Update soon...

Just talked to the guys at Akai (one of their offices is across the hallway from my company) and they informed me that the 2500 OS would be getting revamped in the very near future.

They also told me that the guy who wrote the JJOS was a disgruntled former employee of Akai. (not sure if that was common knowledge, but figured I'd share)

Everyone knew this, the update is called the 5k.

I guess this could be good news for people that don't have the JJ OS. If it will contain some of the advanced features of the MPC 5000, then that would be great news for ever MPC 2500 user.

Yeah, that would be great news! Apart from the new features though i hope they do manage to address some of the current OS bugs.

New features?I doubt it.More like bug fixes.

wonder if the future update will lock out JJ outta the 2500

The 2500 is a end of life product that is being phased out.
Unfortunately we know that time frames vary from when Akai pulls the plug to when they actually announce the discontinued aspect of a product.

The JJ OS has a lot to do with why the 5k replaced the 2500.
JJ may or may not continue to develope the 2500 OS, but Akai has now taken control of his customer base since they will only be shipping a given number of 2500's.
Once they have sold all that they production line has planned and gone through the refurb's that's it.
The 5k was built to prevent him from doing the same thing again so they have officially blocked him out of the future units.
Any real adds to the 2500 would affect the 5k so that would be a step backward.
Notice how quickly Akai implemented the price reduction on the 2500?
It's new selling price is $1699 with most stores doing $1399 easy.
Are there any real bugs left in the Akai 2500 OS?
If so that would be the only thing you could expect a new OS to deal with.

Nice, where do you have all that in-depth product management info from? You sure you don't mix up the 2500 with the 4000?

Typically takes Akai 12-18 months to kill inventory and production of a product.

Yeah I heard a new OS will be out soon, but I doubt there will be any new features. Maybe parameter increases.

So does that mean that the reason the MPC 2500 OS will go end of life sooner than any other MPC product is because of JJ OS?

I new I should of brought a fkin 4K.

I most definately wish I would have got the 4k!!! I am surprised at how fast they have come down in price compared to the 2500.

Okay, the 2500 is out for at least three years now. From when on should we be counting then?

I still think you are just speculating. It would not be very wise to leave a gap between the 1000 and the 5000.

It's from the release (actual shipping) of the 5k.
The gap between the 5k and the 1k is the exact same gap that existed between the 2500 and 1k.
