Yeah, that DX200 is a beast. I know how you feel about being used to subtractive and then learning FM synthesis. Do you have the Yamaha XG Works Lite CD Rom with the DX200 Editor that came with it? There's quite a few parameters in that software that arent accessible from the hardware on it's own.

I used the software for a while, and just randomly entering value's to get some wicked results.. not yr avarage DX piano.. so i just tweak some patches and works nice for me.. i'm kinda lazy with the DX.

hey Jahrome quick question, if ya had the choice to go with either the roland xv 5080 or the fantom xr which would you pick up first?

I would probably go with the Fantom just because its newer and has more SRX slots. But I feel that the XV-5080 is a better built unit.....

I have to add that I would give up my Fantom X before the XV-5080...

......I am probably no help to you :D

Still needs tidying up a little bit, the cables behind the desk are a disgrace.

I've been looking for UK suppliers for the quicklok stands that some of you have for the MPC but i'm having no luck.

Simple at the moment. Got Cubase SX on the DAW and hoping to add Reason 3.0, and KRK RP8 monitors as they are only hifi speakers i'm using at the moment.

Thanks FSC

udenjoe, this is state of the art digital DJing technology, not old fashioned lol.

ibn the program is called Rane Serato Scratch Live

http://rane.com/scratch.html

All the info is in there but basically you have a hardware box that plugs between the mixer and the turntables, and then to a computer via USB.

Then using the software you load a music file onto the 'virtual deck'. This can then be manipulated by the two specially coded vinyls or cds that come with SSL. It's an awesome piece of kit, you can carry your whole collection on a laptop and play it like regular vinyl.

And before anyone pipes up, no it doesn't mix the tracks for you all automatically!

i had a question.

is that an audio interface in the middle right there or is that just a mixer?

cuz i'm getting confused between audio interfaces with controls on them and a mixer.

i mean...if u're using a computer...how would using a mixer be effective?

could u just get an audio interface with X amount of inputs?
how are regular mixers being used in the studio?

someone please straighten this SHITE out for me.

lol

thanx,
