CD TEAC HELP

Just curious. My CD rom drive doesn't power on or anything. Is there something special I'm missing or do I need a new one?
I took out the pin as stated. But, No lights no nothing. I purchased it this way. It has the HD installed.

If you ordered from akai then you shouldnt have to push in the pin, just install it and it's good to go...the drive should power up regardless of the pin mod

It's only a pin to determine master or slave.

If contacts are clean and intact

Does the mpc recognize the drive in record or load windows?

Doesn't show it at all. Doesn't power. Nothing at all.

And the pins are in good nic

It's a Teac DW-224SL. It worked right away, seems it has the pin mod already done. Reads cds and dvds, don't have any empty cd-rs so can't do writing tests for now.

the faceplate is ugly, but the drive works, did the pin47 mod, just pressed the pin in with a mini screwdriver.

havent tested burning yet because i got no empty cds lying around here

Bought an Aopen DVD-CDR drive, installed it with pin fix and works...

BUT! when i try recording it locks-up in 2 seconds when playing?!?

the cd controls would work if i first press record,stopped it,than track number became visible, select a track, hear it for few seconds and locksup.. whats up with this? it all works perfectly when choosing drives.. but when accessed?
