I think you can. I didn't have any problems with my midi controllers (sold'em to get some $ for the mpc). if you have any doubts just check mpd24/32 od korg padkontrol videos on youtube. some people do really crazy stuff. recently at a show a guy had triggerfinger and he was drumming REALLY tight (altho I heard loads of times that this one is wack). maybe just ask around if anyone has such a thing and try to borrow it for a day or two. should be easier than borrowing a mpc
