Yes, copy and paste one sound at a time, so you don't have to delete all the unused sounds from each individual track afterwards.

Will save some time, if using the play in one track and copy to individual tracks workflow.

Yea, I got that. I'd read that and it was still like UGH!. The main point of my post was to add a bit of clarity to the whole subject. most people, when asking, don't really know how to explain it, adding a bit of confusion to the process of coming up witj a solution. Also, it kinda adds a more definite answer. "NO" lol

Can you be a bit more specific as on what you need this particular workflow for? From what I understood so far:

1."record a beat in one go using all the pads, without switching tracks in between"
2."have each (drum)sound of that recording separated to individual tracks for more control over each (drum)sound"

So what kind of control you require over each sound that absolutely requires each sound on it's own, individual track in the sequencer? For volume mixing purposes?

Can't you just assign sounds to individual audio outputs and use a mixer for volume balancing? Or, if mixing internally, can't you just use the pad mixer or the GPE to set the volume levels, while having the drum pattern only on one track?

Just trying to understand your intent..

Since my 2010 post, JJOS made it much easier on one of his updates he made in 2010/11:

On the front main page simply hover your cursor over the Program name and hit Window.
Then tap the pads you want to move and tell it which Track to move to.
Done.

I assume that you have JJOS. JJOS is an absolute no-brainer if ease-of-use, usability and essential additional features is what you like.
