Thanks for the advice , never really can tell what a venue is like with a one off visit so good to get a bit of local input. I'll check the bump and grind special in Antwerp out fo sho.

I've had my MPC2500SE for about a month now, and I've been working through Beat Making on the MPC2500, but this is the thread that got me to sign up.

I just wanted to get in on the MPC scene before it got discontinued and replaced by iPads. I saw a lot of online stores pulling everything but the 5k off the shelves, so I went down to my local store and bought their last one. Because who cares if the rent cheque bounces?

I'm not new to sampling or anything, but I thought I'd get my MPC and somehow magically transform into Pete Rock overnight. Turns out it takes a bit of hard graft. But I'm getting more into the art of it now, and loving it!

I'm just about to go ahead and install JJOS. I was a bit worried about not liking it, and what if Akai OS didn't reinstall? But enough heads on this forum seem to swear by it, so here goes...

that seems to be what a lot of people believe these days... skills do not come included with the mpc... stick with it though... most people can't be bothered to learn the basics and spend the necessary time in front of the mpc and they end up selling it for the next thing they won't bother learning... i seriously don't know what some of these people are expecting... learning any art takes a lot of time invested... best of luck with your new mpc.

I been at it on and off since '06 but being hobby I never sweated self progress and the rate I was going at since for me this was a way to kill time...just now yrs later Im starting to see some real positive progress. Stick with it!

Their will never ever be an other Pete Rock. But doesn't mean you can't be the first "Earhacker".
