...or, maybe they don't 'normally just pop off once unscrewed', but have little hooks on the plastic side panels, and have to be pushed forwards or backwards (can't remember which) about half an inch, to unlock the hooks from the sides of the metal MPC case, to allow the side panels to be removed?

Yeah the need to be pulled forward. I watched the Mpc stuff dismantle video but these ones are firmly in place and I don't want to force them any more than I already have while waiting for the dispute to be processed.

Would be surprised if they had been glued on, but you never know why the **** people do some things!

Was just reading what happened to you, like others said, you can file a claim with ebay, usually ebay takes the side of the buyer, and in this case I'm sure they would refund you.

In the event you get stuck with it, the 2500 is pretty easy to service if you're even moderately confident with electronics. The dodgy pots can be replaced cheap if you can DIY it.

My 2500 card reader didn't work so I got a good discount off typical going rates. Was only a bent bin so sorted it pretty easy.
