Bricked MPC 2500 - Help!

It's definitely not the display. I've checked the contrast... Cool, so it's possible to reflash the boot block, I was worried this wouldn't be possible. The only problem is I'm based in Ireland, it would be crazy money to ship this to and from the states.

Yes, that is why I asked if the service ROM was available.

Would be cheaper for me to buy a new mainboard, unless I can find somewhere here with the service ROM.

But others seem to have been able to get theirs going with a CF card, I haven't.

Sorry, misread that. I haven't a clue. This is the first time I heard that the boot block could be reflashed.

Maybe an Akai repair agent/service centre closer to you has one.

If you replace the mainboard, you will probably lose any paid JJOS and have to repurchase it, no idea if reflashing the boot block would do the same.

I'm pretty sure there isn't one in Ireland but there is one in the UK. Reflashing the boot block shouldn't do anything to the jj is.

It depends how JJOS is tied to each MPC, where the information is stored that it uses to lock each JJOS installation to each MPC.

I don't know how it does it, and where the identifying info for each different MPC comes from, whether it is something in the boot block, or somewhere else.

I wonder would jj respect the fact that you had already purchased the os from him and give you a new one for free.

If you find the service ROM for sale anywhere, please let me know, I would like to buy it.
