I was told Firewire is slower than USB.

FireWire is faster than USB, particularly on sustained transfer. Besides standard FireWire 400 there is also FireWire 800, which is totally faster than USB 2.0

Well, now that I just received my Fantom X..I will verify that statement regarding Roland Workstations don't require you to unplug the USB cable when doing certain things. I have the Fantom XR rack, and you DO have to unplug the USB cable at certain times and it is annoying.

Hmmm. You have to have the USB disconnected from the computer when switching between the USB modes in the Roland Fantom X workstation. The same as my XR as I have stated before. After you siwtch to a USB mode, than you have to connect it to the computer to function properly.

As I have said before..I would prefer this function to work like the MPC 4000 or S6000 samplers. No disconnecting cables.
