What Sound-engine does the 2500 have?

these posts are startin to get funnier and funnier each day. But its obviously a turbo charged evolution motor.

i feel you. but did you see my post stating that i found out what type of engine it uses? my response wasn't speculation. i found out directly from akai.

As a 2500 owner I confirm the sample engine is exactly like sparq described. It sounds very much like the 1000 with a higher tuning, not like the 2000XL or the 4000. If you are familiar with the 1000 then you can assume there will be little difference between that and the 2500.

Ok. Since you have both side by side compairing the two..can you sample the same sound source into the two and give us the links to these files so we can compair them?

I was never inclined to buy an MPC 1000 so I can't compair the 'sound' of the two.

No. I don't do any music work which I am not paid. No free stuff ever. Those days ended years ago. The MPCs aren't exactly side by side either. The MPC1000 is in a bag right now. I bought it for occasional portable work. Take my word for it. The 2500 sounds like the 1000, not the 2000XL nor the 4000. The 2000XL has a classic drum sound whereas the 2500 (and the 1000) are more balanced like the 4000.

ok, well keep in mind that you are posting in a voluntary public forum, where gear enthusiasts get together for mutal sharing of advice, tips, etc.

I know of many "professional" people who do not have a problem with getting in on the spirit of things and participating in sharing their reviews, tests, sound examples, etc., it's supposed 2 be like that. I'm sorry 'those days ended long ago' for you, id say u are missing out.

But whatever, that's your choice.

Also i wouldn't call sampling a sound it both machines for comparing purposes 'music work'.

I didn't want to call it 'production' because I don't consider this request in the same category with billable music production. Read any of my posts and you will see that I never promised anything regarding the 2500. Jahrome always made those promises to the forum. There are plenty of visitors who come here only to discuss topics and not post music or samples. In fact, I offered a couple times to list the many errors in the 2500 manuals. The overall consensus was that no one is interested! When I offered something I felt is significant my offer was rejected. But when someone else made a request I feel requires payment my justification was rejected.

Look, it just ain't normal on a forum if someone asks u to maybe post a sound example (which people do all the time) and your response is like,
"no I won't unless u pay me, my time is worth too much to do anything just for fun..." (!!!)

People will just be rollin' their eyes like 'who do you think u are!'

on the other hand, next time if you just said "nah, maybe later, i don't feel like it... " whatever, that is normal and no-one would mind, ok. i totally agree its fine to contribute whatever u want to contribute and don't do what u don't feel like.

Read all of my posts (which I take you do) and you will see that I have previously requested this comparison too.

Honestly, I am not one of those catz (at least not today) that will sit up here and write this MPC sounds better than this MPC. I do not feel that the MPC 2000XL has a classic drum machine sound over any MPC..including the MPC 1000 and 2500.

While everyone can argue what sounds better...I sampled drums directly into my 2500 and it spit it back out almost exactly how it went in (no effects or filters though). Take this how you want it..good or bad.

tough call. I like the compression feel of the 2000xl I used to own back in the old school though. sayin.
