Mp3's are compressed, the timing might be off a tad bit in the long run.
The player might be runnin fast or slow in the long run.
Midi is the answer to sync problems, manually riding the tempo is a very handy skill indeed but babysitting a tempo is hard when you might have other things to do when performing live.
