2000xl --> 2500

sorry, my bad for not making that clear. the square type of usb connector on a device means that that device is a slave device, not a host. you need a host device to plug a usb zip drive into. the mpc only acts as a usb hard drive/cf card reader.

ok, i got a usb drive, hooked it up to my mac, loaded some sounds from my 2KXL disks. How do I convert the sounds to wave files? Do I need to convert the program and song files for the 2500 aswell?

can anybody offer any help in this matter? Im in a pickle here.

Well, according to the 2500 manual, it can load the 2000XL SNDs directly, as well as the SEQ, SONG and PGM. The first OS update also added ability to load All_Seq and All_PGM files.

Just try it out, copy the stuff on a CF card and try to load it in the 2500.

i connected my usb zip drive to the mac...transferred all my beat folders from the zips to the mac harddrive... then transferred those folders to the mpc 2500 cf card. yes this sux but its the only way. i even went as far as getting a usb B to B cable which was dumb but worth a try.. no luck.

but everything should work fine and there should be no need for any file conversions.

nope. none of this has worked for me. the sounds will not load onto my 2500. once loaded on the the flash card they will not play or load into my machine. Has anybody really done this or is this just what the manuel says. If anybody has advice plz let a brotha kno.

Are your sounds WAV files or SND files?

I only tried loading a simple ALL_PGM.APS and ALL_SEQ.ALL file from the 2000XL with two WAV samples into my 2500, that worked fine...

I've also loaded .all and .aps files that were created on my 2000xl into the 2500

the only issues I had were with some of the parameters changing, but other than that everything was good, no loading issues

try saving them directly from the usb drive to your 2500 cf card via usb

this is still not working. when i try to load the files off my memory card it keeps reading "End of File"?!?! HAs anybody seen this? This is beginning to get really frustrating.

Yo don't even waste your money on that zip drive because I brought it for the same exact reason and my pc can't even read the damn thing. Your best bet is to find a mpc xl mcd because rember akai said due to a bug in the system
it wont work.

I guess it just works in some cases

it works for me, my songs created on my 2000xl load into my 2500, with a few minor changes

maybe it has something to do with a pc, I use a mac and havent had the issue ur talking about

theres something strange with files.

for some reason (i think its the pc) when i read the zip disk on the pc there are a few snd files with the exactly same name but different size, when i put the files on the cf card it just copy one of this files.

now when i'm loading the files in the mpc there are files missing and the pc or somthing else changes the filename, so it show me "file not found"

now i have to "rearranging" all my beats i done on the 2000xl because the files are here but the pgm dont find them.....
