No it's not (well ok... 10 mm wider...). It's a little flatter, but has about the same footprint as the XL. And as stated before, it weighs a little more. Just compare the manuals for specs.
I think if you define "portable" as what the 1000 is, then it's definitely not. Still you can always put it in a bag or case to carry it, just like you would your 2k.
