Are you happy with the Akai OS

Yeah, the lack of communication from Akai is pretty normal from a big company but shitty at the same time. I don't like everything about the 2500 but it's the most important piece of gear that I own. Akai did a great job with the MPC's hardware and I don't mind that there is a group of (ex-akai?) programmers that is equally as dedicated to it's software.

i heard that pete rock will be linking up with akai ,dont know how true but if they are that could help akai out alot.also they should link up with the top mpc users to get the mpc perfect ..but i luv the 2500 .oh one thing when sampling from cd or in (st)mode i chop a sample up then i make it a program then i recop the same sample and make it program2 then i play it out 1st sample record it try to put the 2nd program over it .it does not come out but plays find when its still recording.soon as i hit play from start gone and plays in and out .may be im doing somin wrong.i havent tried it mono yet .been working like 19hours a day ,like pac said dont fall asleep you cant get your cash on if u sleep. peace!!

i really wanna see MTC fixed and give it more stability , not that it crashes or anything but i find it kinda weird that these bugs come and go for no apparent reason.
That changing to the mute screen bug when pressing record was an issue when i first started using the mpc2500 but now it's gone.
The pops in the audio where an issue in the beginning too , then they were gone and now once in a while it starts showing it's ugly head again , mainly when normalizing a rather quiet sample.

And there's allways room for improvement , even very small changes can make things more enjoyable to work with.
Like people said in this thread , better communication could make things better.

i just mailed akaipro.de to tell them that i cant work with my 2500 as it is in os 1.2, cause i use it as main sequencer (midi clock) triggering other drummachines and synths.

a drummachine that cant even follow its own click is useless in my opinion.

now that i read fasttrackers post i realize that my 2500 clicks and pops a lot as well when i use the internal sampler ( drum mode)
im using the 2500 since few days only and i think about selling it already.

I've been using the 2500 since the week it was released and have never heard a click or a pop from mine , only studdering when in trim mode. I use it everyday.Go get another one, I remeber a couple of other cats complaining about it and they exchanged and had no futher problems.

i would also suggest another submission for who uses the JJ OS so we can get an idea of how many users in total are using what...

i wished sync would work like it should - as it is i hardly use it with my DAW.

I also feel no urge to try the JJ OS. In my opinion Direct Recording could need a lot of improvement, it's pretty useless the way it is in my opinion.

And independent filters per layer (simult) would be nice indeed, and some other simple things like Stereo to Mono conversion...

I did have some randon clicks on my MPC 2500 initially. I am not sure if an OS update fixed it or if Akai fixed it when I sent my MPC in for repair...but I no longer have that problem.


Also, you users that have issues with sync'ing your MPC to your DAW, simply use the MPC as the MTC master. Most of the DAW's on the market can sync to incoming MTC.

funny, I hadn't seen this post but PM'd you regarding the very same thing...great minds...Hmmm....

good stuff that everyone is posting up their issues...Thus far, I've had none...other than i feel the sound on the 2500 is a little Brighter than i'm used to...but have found a way to compensate & re-produce like for like by using the onboard LPF...on both Snares & Kick...Cut off set to BTWN 68 & 72...Up the resonance to wherever sounds good.

2 and 3 sounds like you are having a hardware problem.

firstly, im pretty sure its not a hardware issue bcuz the exact same thing was happening on a brand new one i was mashin from the store, and secondly, ther is no reason for doing this, as i said i accidently stumbled onto it. it seems like a harmless bug but if jj can get it right, surely akai can 2.
