i had a 2000xl for 6 years and i don't recall being able to hit shift along with the cursor buttons to change which digit moves. it just had a better data wheel algorithm that recognized whether you wanted the end points to move in small or large increments.

it was definitely easier to chop on the 2000xl compared to the 1000 and 2500 with the akai OS or the JJ OS.

In regards to the Data Wheel I actually started using the keypad at first.... got that mug down to a science, then I discovered the Q-Link slider very nice feature and faster that the Wheel.

In regards to the 8 outs I got a sound module and a keybord hooked up to it.

8 outs is the joint. It was one of my reasons for goin with the 2500. You can route samples and drums to different inputs and record them separately into DAW (ProTools) if your interface has multiple inputs. I have an M-Audio 1814, which has 8 individual inputs so I can go 8 to 8. Its hot. I mix better that way.

yeah the 8 outs was the deciding factor when i bought the 2500, separatiziam is a major key too getting a pro quality mix. although i havent really put in enough work to get to that point yet. I just received some adapters so i can use my old adat xt snake instead of buying 8 new cables, i also really like the sliders when it comes to sample edits,my situation is different from yours though the 25 is my 1st mpc ive always had keyboard work station before so the 2500 is like a dream to me
