Layering individually filtered drums?

when you use one pad with several layers you use 1 (or 2 for stereo) voice of the 32 available.

are you sure about this? i thought that layering 2 sounds in the same pad took up 2 voices of polyphony...

i'm pretty sure that's how it works, anyway. if not, my foundations have been rattled.

No I'm not sure, it's purely speculation, however I'd reckon there's a good chance I'm right as this would be a good reason why there is only 1 envelope and 1 pair of filters across all layers of each pad. Maybe someone who really knows can tell us for sure?
