i cant afford the m-25 it took me a year to get the mpc2500 and i aint paying 150 pounds for a laptop drive with akai stamped on it.

yer you lot are bad,,!!! that pin 47 thing work's i got a little needle and just snap it out 47 and sure anuff the mpc z cd drive as soon as i switced it on,,,,,thankz to all you lot, and remember CAKEO BEATZ ten floors up,,,

u can get a replacement bezel for that model. one that got square edges. i just got a big file and sanded it down

You spent a year to save up for an Akai drum machine. Now, that you have it, you are on a fuc Akai rant. Maybe you should take your own advice

just take a small screwdriver and push #47 back until it is all the way in and in the back pry it alittle more and your done--you dont have to break or soder anything--that's how i got mine to work--sorry about leaving that out--it shows up as master and that makes it a slave drive otherwise--conflict between that and hd--akai removes this pin altogether and thats why it works--i guess any cd dvd combo could work--but it has to have a 2 meg buffer like this drive or it wont write cd's correctly-it doesnt have underrun so it will leave out alot -hope this helps everyone--enjoy and dont pay overprices for this drive--so not worth it
