Maybe they had an accapella of the song.
Maybe the applied filters so lower the drums, but you will always have artifacts left over. The remix drowns out the artifacts for the most part.
Nothing is completely taken out though.

Keep the drums in there.. chop[ into 8ths or 26ths and play over the drums..

He obviously meant 8 or 16 pieces, although you can chop it into as many parts as you want. But 8 or 16 fits into a standard 4/4 beat.

Still dreaming was replayed with real instruments also i used to get a part of the beginning of the record where the air is then chop out all the drum hits in the veryu beginning of a drum sample and replace it with air. I know it sounds stupid but it used to work.

Hmm.
From what I know, its practically impossible to flat out REMOVE drums from a looped sample.. Your only options are: (i) chop up the sample around the drums and replay it on the pads; (ii) recreate the melody with instruments (i.e., dont actually use the sample); and (iii) use filters to try and drown out the drums as best you can. The third option will drastically affect the sample itself.
Good luck. Sounds like you need to go through a lot more trial and error. If it was as easy as just finding a cool loop and making a track with it, we'd all be platinum. You gotta actually dig for it.
