dablunt, I see you have a Roland R-8, I had one back in 1990, that was my first professsional drum machine, I learned drum programmin on that thing. When I fianlly got an mpc later on, I automatically remember ALL the step editing and realtiming and everything I did on the R-8. You know that's the big brother to the TR-808 right. I had 4 sound effects cards and the one you can save your stuff to as well.

I miss that machine..

I am so jealous.

Back then, I wanted an R-8 but I couldn't afford it..mainly because I spent so much money clubbin. I was able to finally afford Roland's next model..the R-70 a few years later. I programmed most of my beats using grid edit. What I like about that drum machine was the feel button. It added a human touch by varying certain perimeters....not exactly the same but it was similar to the MPCs swing.
