I got a question actually pertaining to the topic title... ha

Does the CD-rom drive come with all versions? Or is that an upgradeable thing like RAM?

The CD drive is an option, as is the HD. Whether or not Akai release different models, some coming equipped with these options installed, I don't know.

Me thinks the 2500 quite impressive. Of course, nothing would replace my 60, S950, SP1200, and W-30, but if I had was just starting out or had to start all over, I sure would give this thing a test.

I'm just wondering about the sampling functionalities.
Will there be a full-featured S5000 sampler build-in or
will it be a trimmed down drum-sampler (MPC1k/2k)
without the possibility to trigger chromatic sample$
with a MIDI keyboard?

I can trigger chromatic samples on my 2kxl with a midi keyboard

I'm sorry for the confusion. I guess it should say ...

That is the original pic I posted in case some haven't seen it. The reason the pic I posted wasn't clear (and thus prompted some people to call it fake) was because I didn't have the original pic at the time and had to do a screen grab from a PDF doc.

A new button called mode Does the 1k have that button also or is it just new for this machine
