MPC 2500: Q&A

Q: If you run an identical sound through exactly the same amount of FX (reverb/bit grunger..) in an mpc2500 and an mpc1000, do the wav-files sound the same? Screenshots of how the audio is affected would be greatly appreciated.

For real though..I have never owned an MPC 1000 so I can't comment. But this review will be coming from a perspective of a long time MPC 3000/2000XL/2000 user.

All the usual suspects are there in the Trim/edit menu:

Discard, Extract, Delete, Silence, Normalize, Timestretch, Pitch Shift...and yes, Reverse.

is the swing funtion left?

do u have a 4 band eq for every sound?

is it possible to load an mpc2000xl aps. program and an all. file?

Tight and clicky. I actually never cared for any of the MPCs jog wheels, with the exception of the original 2000.

I womder if Forat can make a heavier replacement?

yo jahrome YOU remember on the mpc 2000xl when you select a program in the main screen for samples then maybe one day you would select a midi track BUT you could turn the wheel and select what program on what channel so you would basically flip thru the sounds of a keyboard from the mpc 2000 or 4000? is that on yours? if not then how will you do that?

A: YES! It wouldn't be an MPC without this function. This is one of the first functions I looked for. But Akai has upped the ante on this one. They have added one more function that I asked for and can't believe they added it. I am testing it now and will post my findings.

Low Blow! lolololololololol. now im askin again are you sure cause to give you more info on the mpc1000 i had to record program changes on one midi channel, record notes on another miditrack (same channel) then press play just to change the sound!

Yeah..that was a low blow and just a joke I know that Akai messed up this function with the MPC 1K. That is among several things that made me pass on getting one.

Yes...yes..and yes. You can make program changes in each track independently. I connected the MPC 2500 to an XV-5080 and set the XV in performace mode where a different instrument is on each MIDI channel. You can turn program changes on or off for each track. When it is turned on, you can select the sounds you want to use for each track from the MPC. So if you want this feature and you have an MPC 1000..what are you waiting for
