yeah i use that mute assign thing on my XL all the time, except you can only make it so one pad will mute off two others... and if i'm layering a low pass filter, those two pads make only one sound.
i usually end up having to apply blank pads with the sound muted, and program them so they'll mute off a certain sound.. but it's just a pain in the ass. i wish i could simply highlight all the pads with the chopped up sample and make them mute each other..

hey eddie.

Im not with the 2500 now, but are you sure that the mute group only will mute a max of two pads? I dont remember that being the case, but im not with it to verify that...hope im right here !

I think based on the ver2 for the 1k and this new version that actually fixes bugs and adds features that the Numark buyout was the best thing that ever happend to Akai. People here have bitched about it for some unknown reason, probably just to **** about something. I worked for a japanese company in the 80's and early 90's, I won't mention their name (roland) and it sucked. The Japanese never wanted to fix bugs or add features and when they did it usually some wacked out thing that nobody asked for.

Maybe Akai will finally get the love and attention it needs.
I use my 4000 different than my 2500, more of a regular sampler, but I'd like to see some fixes and stuff for it too now, if the programmers who worked on it are still around.

Nukai, you're proving to be a good thing. Don't let us down, keep it up.

+1!

numark's beta testing is certainly proving to be a good thing, compared to the old akai.

I mean, 2 midi outs dont work??? who misses that?

Many of these lastest comments are out there and based on speculation.

Anyway....

Here Here, Since many many many of the feature requests that are in the MPC 2500 are from MPC 4000 users requesting it for the 4000...

You will find that these added features were requested by MPC 2500 users if you do a quick search. In fact, the entire MPC 2500 was requested by MPC 3000 and 2000XL users and those of us that bought the MPC 4000 and quickly kicked it to the curb to go back to the classics.

Now..since the MPC 4000 is over 3 years old..its not worth putting in more development into a product that was designed 5 years ago...unless it has some additional bugs to fix. Lets get that MPC 5000 poppin which I will buy the day before it hits the shevles.

I haven't had a proper chance to sit down with my 2500 since buying it but on first impressions the new OS is sooo much better.

The improved USB features are especially useful, no more ripping out the cable.

i don't have the 2500, so i don't know about that either.. but i know on my 2kxl i can only mute two using the "mute assign" thing... i hope it's easier on the 2500 tho, cause i'm getting it soon.. eventually 8)

You can mute a bunch. I tried it, it works. You can also assign the mutes to 16 different groups.

Re: the update.
The USB connectivity is much better.

Two bugs I've found, which only occur when sync'd as slave from Logic Pro (7.1.1):
When in the main window the bar count next to NOW is only moving in quarters, ie 001.01.03, 001.02.03, 001.003.03...

Again, when in the main window, the meters next to Sq and Tr don't work.

When I get a chance..I will attempt the same with my software. But..I have had similar results when slaving an MPC 3000 and an XL to a software sequencer.

please help

Anybody else running a PC have this problem? Waiting to update to see if this is a bug?

thats really weird. If you have a friend with a computer, try it on his. it sounds like a 3rd party disk utility is doing something funky. I used to work for M$, and I'm pretty sure that windows doesnt mention a mac OS anywhere on its own. veruh weird.

Does anyone have problems loading wav files from a disc or computer? When I load a group of wav files, the first sample sounds normal. Although the remaining samples have a low volume and sound distorted. Even if I turn the power off & on I still have this problem. I never had this problem with the previous OS. The usb feature is nice, but I need to use my samples.. What gives Akai, is this a marketing spam????
