damn man where were you before i sent out my mpc to get replaced? lol. i could have fixed it myself with your info. Good stuff man because Akai and vst didn't even know that.

This just happened to me. Akai wants me to send them the unit back. Is it a problem with certain units?

Did you try holding the window button when turning it on?

The OS .bin file needs to be in the root of the CF card i think

Yes, the OS .bin must be at the root of the CF card.
(in fact I don't really know, but I done it like that, ant that works)

Holding down the window key while turning it on works. I don't know what causes the System Test problem though.

This just happened to me today and I did the OS on the memory card deal and it worked perfectly.

Hey I was just wondering what you ended up doing about the SYSTEM TEST screen problem because my mpc just started doing the same thing and I dont know what to do.

i sent mine to vst service but Yanos figured it out. Just read the posts on this page.

Have you guys talked to Akai about the system test error? Msolay did you get your MPC back?

just to say that holding windows key is the way to upgrade the OS with the mpc1000. as it's very similar with the 2500 it seems to work.

I haven't got mine back yet. I will probably get it by saturday or monday. If it is that simple of just putting the OS on the flash card and holding the window key I wonder why Akai and VST didn't know what to do.

I just called Akai a couple days ago, they acted like mine was the only one that has that error. I think they are not telling us the whole truth.

yes it happends to me too with the 1.2 !
so I sent my mpc back to the reseller! => wait & see!
for people who have this problem, it is on the 1.2 os too?
