That's exactly when mine occured.
v3.02 when I pushed the INPUT THRU button.
Once it cleared in never did it again so I haven't been able to repeat the problem.

Well it could be a WunderCode if it was the 2500 code instead of a modified 1k code.

Sovereign, there are forum members that have reported bugs to Akai.

The only issue I have with Akai OS 1.22 is the MTC, which I don't use very often.

There are very few problems with the Akai OS. For those claiming just the opposite, simply post the steps that produce the problem so we can get it to the right people.

Actually Jahrome if you have had any real communication with people at Akai you would understand that they have had a lot of whinning and feature request but very few people gave them intelligent explanations of problems.
It don't work.
The sh*t is broken.
It corrupted my d*mn files.

Are not usable info.
The MTC did actually work but had an underlying problem.
When that was fixed it cause it to ignore the start and stop message.
It will be fixed but it's a scheduling problem based on other projects.
I hate to say this but the real problem with the 2500 isn't really a bug it's a improperly implemented function.
The DETECT TEMPO function.
It just was done in a non-functional way and as you can see JJ was able to tweak it to work thus the reason he added the XL style MANUAL function for TEMPO DETECT.
I wish I could get the Akai OS to have file problems so I could actually see what causes it but I have never been able to get it to do it.
That's been with v1.1, 1.2, 1.21 and 1.22 using a 40g Toshiba, Akai 128, CD-M25 and a ScanDisk 512 CF.
With the amount of actual debugging and feature adds Akai has done to the 2500, at 1 year is to be concidered ahead of the MPC curve based on past models with upgradable OS's.

Also people need to understand there are 3 stages in the Akai equation;
Product Specialist
Technical Specialist
Engineers
Problems have to go through the channels and that's how they determine when a problem has to be escalated to the front.
Example the SYSTEM ERROR FREEZE UP Bug.
At any rate I have too much time logged in on the various MPC's not to appreciate the 2500.
Well all except the 1k and 500 since what they bring to the table doesn't suit my needs.

I have had extensive dialog with Akai. I am fully aware of most issues including what you posted below.

My point wasn't that you haven't talked to Akai, it was that Akai gets a lot of nonsense communication.
It's hard to address things that can't be properly explained.
Can you imagine what's it's like for someone to tell you something is not right and they haven't even read the manual. :?

Cool..now let me get focused on this JJ OS.

1. Problem with Tempo and Q-link slider function
2. MTC RX will not dis-engage

1. My problem with Tempo/Q-link function appears to be very random. When I set the Tempo Change to ON and set its control to Q-link 1, it works as it should. However, when I turn this function off, The Tempo Chage pops pack up and changes the Tempo. I checked the sequence to see if it recorded Tempo changes there...but nothing. This is a random problem. When I can pinpoint it more, I will sure to post more info.

2. My second issue is with the revered MTC function. Now, the JJ OS is sync to my Nuendo DAW. It operates as it should. Press play in Nuendo, the MPC responds. Cool. However, after messing with MTC for 40 minutes, I go to turn it off. It says that my MPC is still receiving MTC code. So I disable MTC in Nuendo. No luck. I disengage the MIDI IN cable og my MPC. Still no luclk. No my MPC is frozen. I play around with it by switching to Midi Clock and sending a MIDI clock signal to it....seemed to work to unlock the MPCs transport. Played with it some more, and the problem resurfaced. Switching back and forth from MTC to MIDI Clock seemed to unlock the MPC transport. I haven't tested how well it locks to the grid in my DAW..mostly because I have very few tracks with a drum sound on the first beat. I will create something simple and test it and report back....if anyone cares

In addition to these issues, I suggest a change. From the main screen, you can move the cursor to BARS and hit OPEN WINDOW. In this menu, you can only add blank bars to the end of the sequence. This needs an improvement. You should be able to ADD/Delete bars freely in this section..from the begiining...middle...or end of the sequence. Currently, this function is only in the SEQUENCE EDIT MENU.

Anyway...as far as these bugs are concerned...I feel comfortable when I can produce them consistently. That way, I know how to avoid them. When they are random, I don't find that a good thing....

jahrome wrote:So I have my son doing his evening audio production homework using the MPC 2500 with the JJ OS. He keeps telling me something is wrong when he tried to use the song mode. I told him it was probably just operator error. After a few minutes of hearing him complain, I go check it out myself. I tried to convert a song to a long sequence. It crashed. When I tried to go to some other MENUs, it kept crashing and restarting. I tried reformatting the drive...re-initialize the MPC. Nothing worked. Next, I go into the program menu and things start changing randomly. I start to panic. I quickly installed the Akai OS 1.22. It was still crashing. So I reformatted the hard drive and re-initialized it again. All seems well now. But I am/was scared.

For now, that JJ OS is staying far away from my MPC 2500. I had an open mind at first. But now, I will let you guys be the guinea pigs and jump on board another time.

For you fellas that are adventurous...please check out how the song mode works for you. Trying creating a song from several sequences, and then convert this song into a long sequence. Let me know what you find.

Ya, thats exactly what's happening with me right now. I can create like a 20 bar song no problem, but when i add too much to it and try to convert it just restarts. What do you recommend doing? I still have warranty on it so maybe i should just bring it in to get fixed.

Are you using JJ OS?

im kinda having the same problem as far as MTC. ok, so i have a beat mapped out in song mode to track out into Pro tools but when pro tools it running and im in song mode, i cant scroll down in song mode to make any changes or delete sequences, it just freezes there and i cant use cursor buttons. so i close down pro tools and i can move around in song mode.....also, lets say i wanna record a sequence or add something to a sequence, if pro tools is open, there is no count in on the metronome, it just starts recording without a count in.....anyone else have this problem? might be with pro tools but im not sure. this just happened to me recently :x hope this makes sense
