2500 OS 1.22 and MTC questions

Well, next, I would try switching the cable plugged into MIDI INPUT 1 to MIDI INPUT 2 on your MPC. Make sure that you make the appropriate settings on the MPC page...thus it should be SLAVE IN 2 versus 1.

Also, if that doesn't work, test your MPCs MIDI INPUTs using an external MIDI keyboard/keyboard controller. If you can record a sequence on your MPC with the controller...it would be highly unlikely there is something wrong with your MPC. It could be your copy of Nuendo.

I have tried the above and still can not get it to work, I can record a sequence with my controller on the mpc ok. This would suggest the mpc midi interface is working, I took it back to were i bought it and they tried to sync it to protools, they could not get it to slave at all. only option left is to send it back to Akai .

I tried something and it seems to work , but just to make sure , can anyone confirm if this works correctly?
I don't really know how mtc is supposed to work.

Cubase sx3 and mpc2500 (akai OS 1.22)

Cubase Synch setup:
Timecode source : MIDI Timecode (and choose the right MTC input)
MIDI machine control settings:
check the box "MMC Active"
select the right IN and OUTPUT leave the rest
MTC destinations:
check the right box to send to the mpc
All other boxes are unchecked.

MPC Synch setup:
Synch in:
Mode : OFF
Receive MMC : ON
Synch out:
Mode : MIDI timecode
Framerate : 30
send MMC : OFF

It seems to work in both ways , MPC starts cubase and the other way around.

That works..what is happening is when you start the MPC, it triggers Cubase with will be the MTC slave.

However, when you start Cubase first, it its sending a MMC command to the MPCs transport and telling it to start.

Unable to confirm, I have sent my 2500 back to Akai due to sync and other midi issues. M-audio midi controllers midi out not being recognized by 2500.

Jahrome : Are you saying that if i press play in cubase , the mpc just starts playing and isn't really synched to mtc?
Cause the mpc is following cubase's song position.

I now have turned MMC completely off on the mpc and "synch online" disabled in cubase.
Now when i press record (or play) in cubase , the mpc starts playing too.
i recorded 11 bars this way and compared it with a kick that's quantized in cubase and it seems to be pretty tight.
