Jahrome, I might look like a noob as I don't post around here, but I've been an MPC head since 1999 and read stuff on here over the years...
I recently bought a 2500 second-hand, fully-stuffed except for the CD. Since I've built computers, I thought I'd at least try it with a slimline laptop drive I have lying around. It's a Panasonic CW-8123-B CDRW/DVDROM, 2MB cache, +5V @ 2A, and has a funky little mini-ATAPI connector.
I hope to try it out later today and will post back. I pulled it out of a test mini PC where it has worked fine sharing a cable with a 2.5" hard drive.
What (non-Teac) model did you say you had..?
