I was just shedding some light because Jahrome posted earlier that the instructions DIDNT say it at all so I was showing him that it did

At least quote me correctly....I actually stated that I couldn't find it. The link I was originally given to download the OS didn't come with any instructions but I just used common sense to update the MPC.

u must wear glasses becuz u cant see, if u couldnt find it u must be blind or lack the common sense to click other links on the akai site

u used common SENSE but what about common SIGHT

loading an OS on an mpc is not common sense anyway its more like specialized technical knowledge

I'm just messing wit ya, none of what we are discussing now has anything to do with the initial question that was asked so I'm done going back and forth with you

knowing u u'll probably post again becuz ur always right and must get the last word, so be my guess

A contact at Akai emailed me the link to the OS as soon as it was available. This link didn't have anytyhing but the OS...and some release notes...and NO update instructions. Not sure if you were joking or not..but for the most part..OS updates on most MPCs is practically common since to many MPC users (2500, 2000, 2000XL...save and load).

So you are making a big deal because I couldn't locate a file  Files that were not there when the OS was initially dropped.....if it makes you feel any better..yes, I need glasses..amd yes I feel a need to be correct most of the time....and I will most likely post and post again because your entertain me....

jahrome wrote:Actually...I can't find where it states to re-format the 2500s hard drive...on Akai's site it says that about the MPC 1000 whose update procedure appears to be different than the 2500.

were u not on akai's site and couldnt find it?

cuz from ur post above it does seem that you were on the akai site and not just an email :(

please dont bul*shi* just to make a point its not that serious

and why were u even speaking on whether or not to format the drive,
point being if you never read the instructions u dont know if its mandatory or just recommended

and to top it off the 2500 is a new machine with its 1st OS update so what u said was purely an assumption

Man...what is your issue with me the past two days??

Son...I am ain't BS you....I will let you know when I am. I already said that I couldn't find it on the site. And no, I most likely didn't look that hard. What you want next? I have to send you the email I received which gave me the link to the download (which didn't have any instructions)? What will satisfy you today? I have nothing to do now so I can entertain you if you want.

Let me explain it to you like a two year old:
1. I received an email from an Akai contact with the link to the download.
2. The release notes were posted in the forums.
3. Couldn't find the MPC 2500s specific instructions for updating so I used the MPC 1000s instructions which didn't work.
4. I attempted to load the OS like I have done so many times with the MPC 2000XL..bingo..it worked.
5. I spent the rest of the evening burning a CD and testing previous problems...and posting in the forum which I love to do...
6. At this point..I still didn't have the manual add-on which wasn't available for download or I overlooked it.
7. But I am so much an MPC Guru (any idiot that can turn it on can be one as well in a few weeks), not having these instructions didn't slow me down a bit.
8. The next day, look up the MPC 1000s procedure and noticed that it did say format your drive...still couldn't find this info on the MPC 2500

So after all of this and just browsing the forum...this thread came up. I answered dablunt question saying that it wasn't necessary to format the drive because I UPDATED my 2500 with no problems (I didn't format my drive). You enlightened us all saying that Akai does say to fornat the drive. So..I cleverly stated that Akai also states to buy their approved RAM and advises to pick up hard drives on their tested/approved list...which many have ignored. Bingo!! That is where I hurt your feelings. I don't know this for a fact...but I may have offended you by implying that you are among the bright few that saved about $50 or so by buying the unapproved RAM and hard drives..although you just spent over $1500 on this drum machine :P

I apologize for hurting your feelings. That wasn't my intentions. It was insensitive of me. But if you can buy unapproved cheap RAM and hard drives..why can''t I cut a corner and not format my hard drive and tell about it in the forum?? This site is public..no??

I hope u feel better after all that venting, nothing u said ever hurt my feelings because its really not that serious

I have nothing against anyone who purchased cheap ram or a unapproved hard drive

but I decided not to, just to be safe, I purchased the akai ram and the 40g toshiba hard drive from the approved list so once again you are assuming something and you are WRONG WRONG WRONG

how u know what I bought is beyond me becuz I never told you I guess u just decided to make something up

but really I'm done this time because I see that u will say whatever to make what ur saying seem like its right

this is really pointless now, I dont have anything against u I just made a clarification and you took it personal, just relax a lil bit homie

I don't catch feelings or vent here in the forums...I enjoy the exchanges and actually welcome them. You can't be done..say it ain't so......

So besides you are upset that I posted that you can update the 2500 without formatting the hard drive..what else is on your mind? Tell em why you mad son?
