Its not a need but a want. I am aware that the gain/levels are not involved when the 2500 resamples itself. However, I just like to have a visual representation that the MPC is actually recording. It would be no labor to have the MPC show levels while it is resampling itself.

they should really add where you can adjust the count in? didn't they have that on the xl?

OK, granted... but you know damn well peeps would come here then and start worrying why their Record Gain knob doesn't change the recording level

But it's a little irritating at first not seeing any feedback when the MPC play, you're right.

Yeah, I think you are misunderstanding me. I know you can assign different programs to different tracks. What I want do is, assign a sound (or a pad) within a program to a track that's different from another sound (pad) in the same program.

For example, if I chop up a drum loop and have all of the sounds assigned to a program (kick, snare, hat, etc.), I want to assign the kick (or the pad that contains the kick) to track 1, assign the snare to track 2, assign the hat to track 3, etc. I know if I played and recorded them independently, I could do this. But, I want to be able to play and record them all at the same time and assign each sound to a different track. Got me?

I dont know if you a aware but that is kinda easy it requires you to move each pad to a different track. thats how i track my beats into protools with the kick one track the snare and hats on their own seperate tracks. if this is what you are talking about i can type up a tutorial in a couple of hours or so. the other easy way is to just set each pad to out put on a separte channel and record into your program

Just copy the track four or five times (on seperate tracks) and solo the wanted sound by erasing the left overs. Takes about 1 min.

moving each drum sound to a different track on the mpc is a godawfully painful way to edit your drums in relation to one another. if you want them in different tracks or if you want more control over each sound via mixer/daw, assign different drum sounds to your probably unused individual outputs.

though it may initially appear to be the opposite, keeping all your drums on 1 track is a much more edit-oriented approach

i agree thats how i do it personally but some dont do it that way altought it is the easy way

All Im sayin is do all drums on one track and get it how you like it. Then you can copy the pattern lets say 5 times on 5 different tracks. On the new 1 track erase everything but the snare, track 2 everything but the hat, 3 everything but the kick ect. ect. then erase the original track and you have it all seperated for tracking out, it doesnt take long and you can still do it at fisrt, all on one track.
