Excuse ignorance but is there another way to power off 2500

Is there another way to shut down my MPC 2500 besides the button in the back, it seems rather harsh to just shut it off completely after all the work from the back... thats like experiencing an electrical failure.
Please excuse my ignorance but im a newbie

It's an on/off button man, it's meant to turn the machine on and off - even says so in the manual.

then why do we not just power off our computers the same...cause it would probably damage something right??

oh gotcha, like start -> shut down?

well the answer to that is no, there is no soft-shut down feature on the mpc. turning it off w/the button is fine, don't worry about it, just don't do it while it's playing, loading, saving etc and you should be all good.

Unlike a computer, the MPC isn't running any critical processes while it's idling and doing nothing.

dude thats just how it works. you can slam it on and off or gently press it... it's just how it is. gabillions of mpc on/off buttons have been pressed with no problems. i suggest you look into more important things to ponder about mpcs. like what to do after you turn your mpc on or off. that could be detrimental

Not sure about the Akai OS but on the JJOS's it says to make sure you hit the off button only when your on the ''MAIN SCREEN''.

I know what you're saying...when I first got the mpc I thought I was missing something...

ie

on my digi eight track...you shut down...but standby's still on...then you flip the switch off in the back...it's a two step process...

but the mpc is just one button...although I've heard that it's not good to shut it off when you are in save/load mode...cause the hd is spinning...go to main screen and you're all good!

Anyone remember the times when you had to "park" your harddrive before shutting down the PC?

Ah, those were the days... no plug n play & cheap ass companies wanting servers built out of desktops... manually configuring IRQs etc was soooo much fun.

...remember the toshiba libretto? The tiny laptop that showed we could've had our tiny cool laptops over 10 years ago

LINUX.......

Linux has to shut down processes as well.

Just kick it till it turns off.

Its not a PC, more like a glorified calculator that makes special bleepy noises.
You can use the powers switch with no worries...
