Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

just got back from an extended vacation, plugged in my headphones to my 2500 and only the left side plays, tried other headphones, speakers... same problem. changed mixers... same problem. has anybody encountered this issue? if so how did u fix it?

any help would be greatly appreciated... - born again MPCian

try resetting the mpc to the factory settings: hold the erase key while powering up.
and check if your sample is really a stereo sample with sound on both channels.
if you are not on os 1.24 than you can upgrade to this and check.
after upgrading the os akai recommends a factory reset and a harddrive format, if you have one.
if it is still not running the left channel i would take it to a repairshop.

just updated to jj os 3.08 played the preset sequence which is obviously in stereo and still same problem... i hope dust didn't get mess it up since i was gone for about 4 months... any other suggestions?

i had the exact same problem. in my case it was a loose connection inside the mpc. when you open the mpc there is a small white connector (with 6 small cables) on the right side of the main volume knob. its labeled p202. one of the connections of this connector was loose, i just had to tighten it a bit to solve the problem . If i have the same problem again, i'll probably re-solder the joints around that connector. In case you want to fix it yourself you might want to download the mpc service manual (just google for it). it helps to disassemble the mpc in the right order (the section i'm talking about is at the botton of page 20)
