Chopping Samples and OS Question

I had an MPC 2000XL, i'm looking to get an MPC 2500. I had a couple questions.

1. When you chop your samples across the 16 pads, how do you get the sample to cut off when you hit the next pad. i know with the MPC 2000XL, i put each sample to Mono, but when i hit the next pad the pad i hit before thats sample would play out. I saw some videos of cats who chopped their sample up on the 2500 and as they hit the pads the previous sample cut off. That's great for choppin up samples and freakin them. Can you do that with the MPC 2000Xl too?

2. What's the best OS to get for the 2500? What's the most stable and what are the differences betwee the stock OS an the JJOS? Where can you get the JJOS? How much is it?

3. I want to get the 128MB Ram upgrade for more sample time and the CD/DVD drive for burning to cd and grabing samples from cd. What other upgrades are worth the $$$?

You can set the whole Program to Mono, which you can't do on the 2000XL.

Upgrade to the newest Akai OS before doing anything and start with that. Only if you think you're missing something or got any problems you can think about if you want to spend another $100 for JJOS.

In my opinion you only need the RAM and a harddrive.

Like Stilo says, a whole program can be done at once...How cool is the that.
And also, if you want to have only some samples cut off when you hit the next pad in a program, setup the ones you want to cut off into a mute group...This way you may have some remaining pads/samples in that program remain normal (oneshot or note on and poly).
