have just spent night searching forums, reading manuals to the point that they stopped making sense maybe you would help me? Ok, I have 2500 slaved to Cubase 4 my external audio is Presonus Firestudio Project and the synth I use is Roland sh201.Let me first ask if this can be done? I would like to keep editing the sh201 in Cubase but to link it thru MIDI thru the MPC, I tried to set it up so many ways and the best I got it was where the sh201 was going into Cubase with audio and Midi but the Midi and audio data from Mpc were going in with it,tried the local off and still had the problem. Can it be done (don't have mixer).

If it can't be done then can you take me step by step through linking the sh into the Mpc with Midi as I am having some problems there too tried different combo of in's out's and at this stage that I don't know where I am.

Also can the sh201 Midi data be altered in mpc? And can mpc Midi data be altered in Cubase?
I know there's alot there but any help is much appreciated.

The 201 has a USB socket, right? Can you connect the USB to computer while using the MIDI input/output with the MPC? If this works, it will give your the best of both worlds. The MPC can still slave to cubase on a second MIDI input, and you can edit the 201 in the computer.

An other option is to get a MIDI merge box, which takes two MIDI cables and mixes them together to one input. Something like this:

The 201 can't be edited in the MPC, neither can the MPC be edited from a computer.
