I think i'm gonna stick to the old school way of sampling with my MPC 2500, like i use to with my MPC 2000XL. Sample using the analog inputs.

However, i've been messing around with transfering .wav files that i have on my PC to my MPC via USB.

I've read that this only works with the CF Card, but it works with both the CF Card or the internal Hard Drive with my MPC.

Does anyone know the right way to transfer files from your PC to your MPC? I don't want to mess up the internal hard drive, but it seems to work fine with transfering files to.

I'm using Akai OS 1.23.

They also fixed the output routing with 1.23. You can do stereo pairs or just 1-8 outs. much better than having to go thru and pan everything left or right.

some people are just posting statements - there is no rule that message boards are for questions only...
a statement is open for additions, corrections or any other form of rethorical discourse...

anyways nod even hid a discovery in his post which is known to many but not all mpc heads: he discovered that you can transfer files to the internal harddisk or to the cf-card...
there comes the question: yes, it is perfectly save to transfer files directly to the internal harddisk. just don´t defrag the hdd with windows, or turn off your mpc without trashing the mpc drive if you are on a mac.

we now may wait for a bunch of new posts by nod if he discovers the window button...

question was...

Does anyone know the right way to transfer files from your PC to your MPC? I don't want to mess up the internal hard drive, but it seems to work fine with transfering files to.

these forums were made for people to help each other out and post statements, questions or whatever.

just for you though, i will not make any posts about the Window button.

however, since this is not a new post... What is the Window button? What does it do? Where is it located on the MPC?

They should have made the MPC with a Window button that lights up when you go to a field that uses it. It would have made it easier for us to understand it better.

can you help me with the 16 pads on the MPC too? What do they do exactly? Can I hit them and make sounds? Where do the sounds come from? The Universe?

transfer sounds to / from pc to mpc via usb cable

for details and your other questions they're basic enough to be addressed by the manual - dive in mate you won't regret it.

@funkdoc: on a mac you should move the mpc harddrive icon to the trash before removing the usb cable! this way the mac os can properly unmount the drive.

edit: actually on a mac you should thrash the mpc drive everytime before you leave the usb page on the mpc!
mac and pc users can let the usb cable in the connection since os 1.21. (see manual addendum for 1.21 or above)
