mpc2500 internal mixer

hello

what do you think about mpc internal mixer? to my hears seems a bit strange, i mean if you turn a track volume a bit down seems much less louder than at full volume, not just a bit.

the big difference to me is between full volume and any other kind of volume

so i'm asking, what do you think about that? there is less bit resolution if you turn down a track volume?

the point is that isn't like any other kind of mixer in daw.. if you turn down 1db you almost don't hear it.. if you turn down just one step on the mpc mixer.. seems like -3 db..

do you feel the same or is just me?

Same with the 1k. Kinda annoying actually because when a kick is a touch too loud, turning it down makes it too low.

oh great, at least i'm not the only one.

is very annoying to me.. and i avoid to use the mixer .. i admit i'm a bit paranoid so i'm scared to lose something about the sound.. the resolution.. so i do all the volume when i export..

maybe i use the mixer to trim texture sounds, secondary sounds, not the most important.. but when i export i leave all at full volume.

Yea thats my only real beef with the mixer section. On my Motif it is real sensative to adjustments on the fader so when you use something like the 1k its very noticable.

ok but don't you have any clue about samples resolution? seems like a passive gain.. to my ears.. but i'm not so expert

it appears to just lower the volume, I havent noticed any difference, now whether or not it affects a sound that is routed to an effect on the MPC like the compressor is something else. To be honest I never really concerned myself with anything other than getting the level where i want it.

Yeah the internal mixer is not all that great. Hope you got a DAW... Just track it out and work from there.

anyway.. going a bit OT there is something you think is great or very usable in the mpc, talking about inboard fx or features?

sometimes i like the reverb, seems very tuned on drum sounds.. but probably i don't know better reverbs (really appreciated suggestions about that) it's kinda lofi in a pleasant way.. sometimes.. i like to give a bit of it to all sounds.. gives some glue. uniformity

Yup reverb is the only FX I use on the MPC and I have used delay once.

What the hell do you mean by "resolution"?

bit resolution, you know.. every 6db you loose one bit of resolution.. etc.. bit depth.. losing sound

I don't think the MPC changes the bitrate when you lower the volume...

Stilo's right for sure. MPC's fixed at 16 bit.
Probably just referring to how sound breaks up as it gets louder, and the higher the bit rate, the better (or clearer) sound will be at louder volumes. If you've ever tried to distort a 32-bit floating point compared to 16-bit you'll know what I mean.
