Quick question from a new guy. I know I can purchase the CD-M25 for a hefty price if I want to add that functionality. But, could I use any internal CD/DVD reader/burner? I have a few extra that are used in Dell laptops and it would be nice if they were compatible with the 2500. I did use the "Search" function and found nothing on this topic. Any advice would be appreciated.

if you have some spares, just try. if it don't work, tough luck...

i don't know why akai just decided for a cd-player instead
of a cd-rom for older sample-cdroms etc. and that price?

(don't ge me wrong, i don't miss my old mpc's but just a simple cdplayer ?)

You can load samples and projects from the CD ROM. In Akai's OS, you can copy from HD or CF card to CD. And you can use RW disks. And load from DVDs. That's more than what you can do with a CD player...

I installed a laptop Teac drive I got from e-bay for a fraction of the price. I modified it and it worked fine. You just have to make sure you get the right model. There are a few to choose from.

Thanks for the responses. But, Lumens, when you say that you modified it, what do you mean? I'm assuming if I install a DVD reader/CD reader/burner in the 2500, it will work, or it won't. What can be modified in order o make it work? Thanks.
