Recording Guitar Direct to Sequence

Hey, Im just getting back into using the MPC after about a year break from it. Im trying to record my electric guitar straight into the sequence, ie not recording it as a sample and then playing it through the pads. From what i remember this is possible I just dont know how. I hav got the input thru set up so i can hear the guitar alrite i just cant get it to rcord. Can anybody point me in the right direction. Thanks guys.

Its an MPC 2500 btw

move the cursor to the track field on the main screen, click open window, and then turn direct record on. start recording using the transport and then press the F button to start direct recording to the track, when you're finished it will ask you to assign the sample to a pad, and then to write an event to your sequence to trigger that pad.
