HD Drive trouble

So i installed a HD drive into the 2500. When I try to save to it it says
disk is full. If I try to format it it says insert memory card.

The hard drive shows up under device...but it isnt working correct...
any help/ideas? I tried two different HD with same result, both used, which I already owned. They had been formatted.
Are they simply not compatible? Any info would be appreciated?

i had issues with my hd turns out it wasnt the hd it was cold solder joints on the board the caddy plugs into ..i called vst and dan (i think is name was) helped me sort it out on my own .. all i needed to do was remove the swap ribbon positions i wont be able to install a cdrom as the broken ribbon connector is now going to it but i had no plans to
