logic 8, mpc 2500,m audio firewire410

can someone explain how i can run my mpc through my firewire so i can record and play my mpc into logic.

i am not having much luck at the moment.

also, how should i assign midi notes or tracks from the mpc to record seperate tracks in logic.

bass drum/track one
snare/track 2 and so on.

just trying to record midi,sounds into logic.

i figure why should i but a roland edirol interface when i have the 410.

does the same thing right?
