Looping a single pad Without Recording or Playback on 2500

Hi

I have had an mpc 2500 for a few days now - with jjos (free) on it right now.

i'd like is to hit a pad once and have the sound continually loop. no sequencer or time stretching, timeslicing or anything like that - id just like to play the 16 pads live BUT use pad one as my drum pad which i'd like to hit ONE TIME and have the drum pad loop. then i can concentrate on playing on the other pads.

Note that this is not the same thing as whats explained in the manual - I don't want to record anything or even play a sequence - simply load in a few samples - assign them to pads - and use a single pad as a 'background' drum beat that loops (even when Im not pressing it down). i.e. this is for 'live' play not building up a sequence or anything.

Thanks to some guys here I managed to get this working on the mpc 500 and 1000. But they involved use of the numeric key which isnt on the 2500...

And Ive tried the instructions given in the manual of using shift and note repeat - the pad is set to note on and the sample set to loop. Again - Ive got this working on 500 and 1000.

But if any of you know how to do this on the 2500 i'd appreciate you letting us know.

So does that mean that the 2500 cannot play a looped sample indefinitely after one key press ?? (without holding the pad down or using the sequencer).

Odd - that the 500 and 1000 can do this - but the 2500 can't ?

Good question... I've never tried this.

But now I want to. I'll dig into my manual and see if I can find out how as well.

If you're using the JJOS, you should post this question in the JJ forum. You'll likely get a better response. Also, if you're using the JJOS I hope that you're not wasting too much time in the Akai manual, as it only covers the Akai OS.

heh - i've owned an mpc 1000 before and the one thing its taught me is to get rid of the akai os as soon as possible.

tried to find a way to loop on the akai os for a couple of days and have gone through the manual. Am now trying out stuff on JJOS.

Im just very surprised that you cannot do this on the 2500 !

What's your problem with letting a sequence run with that looped sample? I mean, does it bug you that the timecode is running, or what? I don't see a reason for that really. You can play live, build up layers or not, whatever you want.

Although I didn't understand the part with the "numeric keys" which are not on the 2500...
