My 2500 hates hard drives

without a hd my 2500 works fine on any os akai/jjos 3.09/xl it works perfect as expected. The minute i install a hd it will hang during boot and if it makes it past boot (usually after a few power cycles) it will hang when you select hd from a load or save screen somtimes i can format it in the mpc and it formats forever but is unusable creating a folder takes forever and the folder is unusable. My testing has been with 3 seperate hds and 3 different os's

One more thing if i install a hd thats not formatted for the mp it boots fine and just ignores it its only when i format the drive in the mp that it causes problems

What was the fix?

the board that the hard drive tray slides into has two ribbon ports 1 has a ribbon going to the logic board the other goes to the cd socket .. the ribbon is a standard daisy chain deal except that the daisy chaining happens via 2 sockets on the hd socket board one socket had dad joints so i just swapped the incoming ribbon to the good port .. and left the cdrom ribbon out .. if i needed cdrom i would have needed a new board

What's vst and can you post the number. I'm having trouble with my mpc reading hard drives if they helped you they can probably help me
