"file not found" message

i recently got a new laptop and the program audacity. i found sum drums on a mix and i used audacity to chop out the section that i wanted. i plugged my usb cord to the mp and the file went to my memory card but when i try to play or load the sample i get a "file not found" message. now i have used this method before, for example. i use a portable turntable (Numark PT-01) to sample from vinyl, i usually get a weird "static" or "white noise" in my samples and i used audacity to take out the noise. this is the first time for me getting this message, ive tried changing the bit from 32 to 16, chopped the sample even smaller and even re chopping the sample. any advice on whats wrong

I don't use audacity, but see if you can export the file as an ACM wav rather than a PCM wav. I've noticed that whenever I loaded up wavs with the pcm format that I always got that message.

sadly i cant, all of the different wav formats are pcm. do u know any other programs similar to audacity? thanks for the help

I use Steinberg Wavelab to clean up my samples before I load them into my MPC. I had a similar problem where I would throw samples on my CF Card, my MP wouldnt see them. It was because some of my samples were in the Bit Rate. Make sure they 16Bit. I had some that were 32Bit. Wavelab converts them easily!

Adobe Audition, Sound Forge, or Wavelab like 40 beatz mentioned are good programs to use to convert your pcm wav's to acm wav's.

Maaan.. I've done everything in the box. Saved many times as the pj progresses, only to boot up later and find "?Hubbard.pgm" where shit should have been. I've been THAT close to punching cats in there faces for livin' over that.
Back up to seperate HD? I don';t feel like I should have to but wht the F does this happen?
