Hi everybody...first post here

I've been producing for about 5 years and just copped an MPC of my own a couple of months ago.

I hooked it up with a 30 GB flash disk and 128 MB and a 100 GB internal hard drive so I know when it comes to specs im set.

I was making a beat, everything was fine. I pretty much laid down all the samples, sequenced it, life was good. Then I laid the bass, and the hats. All of a sudden i noticed one of the samples that i had previously played was cuttin too early.

I created a new program and put just that one sample that was cutting early in there and tried that, but it wasn't working either. Saved the entire project and restarted the MPC, still nothing. BTW, I'm working on the MPC stand alone, I just load up my samples from my PC and I mess with it like that. I've made several beats but never came across this issue.

Why on earth is this sample cutting early? How do I fix it?

Anybody know?

Thanks, appreciate the help.

Go to program edit, and see if ur in mono or polyphonic mode. Right hand corner, it will say PGM:mono or pgm:poly.
EDIT: In mono, samples will cut when another smple is triggered. In poly, samples will play thru other triggered samples.
Edit number 2: Top right hand corner

What sort of quantisation were you using for the sample that was cutting in too early?

or do you have quantise switched off??

thats a problem i often have.

switch the quantise off and input the pads hits manually maybe...that might help you.

Im having the same problem. I have it all in poly but when i play a sample back from track 8, track 4 cuts short. Am i running out of polyphony?

i haven't found a remedy for this during playback, but i found a remedy for it where it counts...tracking out...

essentially, i didn't add the machine gun hats till the very end, and that's when the sample started dropping out.

if u want to know whether ur playing the sample correctly or holdin the pad long enough, just mute the drums or other instruments and solo the samples to see if they're playing all the way thru. This WILL work. U'll unfortunately have to suffer through not hearing the full sample being played, but once u track out every sample and instrument, you'll be fine.

i tried fidgeting with the whole polyphonic thing, but it didn't do anything for me...

just mute the other tracks and play the track where u have the sample dropping out to see if ur playing it accurately. when u track the individual samples, u won't have an issue whatsoever.

hope this helps...i still love the machine regardless..

Yeah i did this earlier as well. I only track out 2 at a time anyway, so i just solo the channel and hit play. It played everything back just fine, its just when im making a track i can see it being a lil burden but no biggie. f you figure this out, hit this thread back, ill do the same.

Haven't tried it yet but, sample the main outs off each track especially the hats and replace with new sample, should save polyphony.
