Noisy Individual Outputs

So my story goes like this...

There is a constatnt high freq. whine present in the audio signal from outputs 1 through 4 which seems to drop off from 5 onwards. I've isolated the problem to these outputs and have reason to believe it could be a faulty DAC of a possible quad variety.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue if it sounds familiar?

do you have a harddisk installed?

yes, i have a 80G hard disk inside and I'm aware of the new JJOS XL addressing the idle spin issue. however, i installed that OS just to check if the fix worked but NO. the noise is certainly louder when the disk is being accessed but it is constant at a lower level when the machine is in the most docile of states.

do you have some new information on this? =) (name recognition from R4R)

someone who knows something about digital components should be able to make a diagnosis from the audio sample above...

hi, no - unfortunately i have no inside knowledge. from a practical point of view though i would rule everything out that i could, like removing the HD as well as any additional memory to see if it resolves it.

are you running the outs to the same channels of your mixer for instance, and using the same cables?

disconnect HDD - noise persists
remove RAM - noise persists

i've switched cables and tried multiple mixer channels and the noise is still contained to those first 4 outputs.....

time to call the tech?

looks like it. there are enough posts about outputs going dead to leave me unsurprised. as good as the 2500 is, i wish it also had the 2000xl build quality
