Best way to record Q-link data....

Hi all,

Just wanted to get some peoples opinions on the best way to record Q-link data. Is it better to record the Q-link movements in 'note on' mode (values of Q-link recorded as note variation in pad event) OR 'real time' mode (values of Q-link recorded as a Q-link event, independent of the pad event).

just wondered really, because i will most probably be doing some little filter sweeps to some samples from time to time, and just wanted to know the best way to go about this.

There's not really a better or worse, just different sounds. I usually go for real time. By the sounds of what you want to do it's prolly the way to go. Another thing you can do to help is place the notes where you want them in grid edit first. Then hit record and just work the Qlink stuff. It's easier to get a more accurate result of what you want to hear from the filter sweeps when you're not concentrated on pad timing at the same time.

Yeah, man I first sequence my stuff and later on add the q-link fx

I agree with that idea menco, get the sequence down then automate it. Like chuck said, it's a lot easier than hitting pads and turning knobs at the same time.
