How do you know if your memory card is incompatible?

Hi, this might seem like a dumb question but hear me out. I recently replaced my compact flash reader PCB in my MPC 2500. As far as I can tell, it is connected correctly. But when I put a brand new 2GB PNY 266x Compact Flash card in there and try to format it, I get a "No Memory Card" error right away. At first I assumed that my repair job failed, but it really seems like it's ok (I tested it with a multimeter to make sure the ribbon connection was OK, etc.)

So is it possible that this particular memory card is just not working with the MPC? What error message do you see if you use an incompatible one?

Just try another memory card. That'll answer your question if it's the card or the repair job.

Good idea. Can't find many <2gb around here though. Gotta wait for the mail man

Under 2GB are getting hard to find for sure! Everytime I find a store with them I stock up as best I can...
