Like many of you, I heared all the talk that the 2500 is being discountinued, but this is false.

I was told a secret today!

The word is: Apparently,a limited edition 2500 is to surface soon before they (Akai) actually stop production of this excellent production tool.

My question is Who out there will be buying this new edition?

One last thing,
Dont contact Akai and blow it up so they shelve the plans and discontinue it now PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Keep this between us 2500 owners!

Supposedly it was already out of production May 19th, 2009. The news now was stores trying to get rid of them, and being out of stock.

There already was a Limited Edition.



Why would they put a product back in production just to make another Limited Edition?
The rumor, if you didn't make it up right now, is probably false.

But if it were true, I'd only buy it if the specs were higher, like if it could handle more RAM or 24bits.

Im passing on what i heard and yes we all know about that limited edition which is done.

Word is the new limited edition will surface towards the end of the year.

Im aint tryna make stuff up - i dont need to cuz i deal with the facts and what i was told came from a very reputable source.

Like you jamon i believe it will just be a lil higher spec with an updated os as they are writing software too.

That seems to be other music gear business models too. Mackie is basically re-releasing their old mixers but with firewire built-in, Roland changed CF to SD and RDAC to WAV and re-released the SP-404, Alesis repackaged the Micron as the Akai MINIAK, etc.

All those old industry players seem to be out of ideas. It looks like now is the time for change, new names. They're too stuck in yesterday, they don't quite know how to adapt to this changing digital landscape. That's your job, invent something better.

Akai is over. Look at what they did for the 5000. Instead of improving quality, they lowered it. Instead of coming up with innovative ideas, they crammed old technology from their keyboard workstations (synth + mtr) into a poorly designed interface.

These guys don't know what they're doing anymore.

So will this limited edition be a lot more expensive or same price? is this gona lower the value of already in circulation normal 2500's?

From what i heard,this new limited edition 2500 numark will be releasing will have new updated software and sounds.

Obviously i questioned the numark rep to get more info but he was very reluctant to give out any,so i asked him about the OS and differences between the Akai and jj os,

I didnt know this but my source said that the jjos is the original akai os and the current akai os is the new rewritten os for the company when they (Numark) bought the company.

I know we got experts here who been using mpc's long before me so can we get confirmation please as i may switch.
